Rapid Problem Solving Webinar
Join the Lean Enterprise Academy on the 23rd February at 3:30pm UK time for our webinar on Rapid Problem Solving.
To begin with participants are provided with an overview of our poster teaching method. You will learn about problem solving in terms of “Purpose”, “Process” and “People.” In addition, participants will gain an overview of the 4 step methodology. Lastly, we will review a Rapid Problem Solving Quadrant Chart Case Study.
So, using the right problem solving methods for the different types of problems is key to engaging everyone. Therefore, people can identify and solve problems with their daily work.
See how Rapid Problem Solving can be used by Team Leaders and Team members to scientifically solve the numerous “day to day” less complex problems they encounter. (rather than jumping to solutions!)
To summarise, Rapid Problem Solving is a key capability that everyone should develop to close the GAP’s on daily performance problems to standard. Or making improvement to higher standards.
What is Rapid Problem Solving?
What is Rapid Problem Solving? In short, our Senior Lean Coach David Marriott gives a brief explanation of the 4 step method in the video above.
What are the 4 Steps of Rapid Problem Solving?
Step 1: Concern
Firstly, start by asking the question “What is the Gap?”
Clarify the Problem – Show the Gap
Analyse the Gap
Determine the Problem to Pursue
Step 2: Contain
Secondly ask “Can we Stop the Problem Now!”
Temporary Fix
Contain Activity with Feedback
Containment Principles
Step 3: Cause
We then focus on “Finding the Root Causes!”
Identify Potential Causes of the “problem to pursue”
Prove which ones are direct causes
5 Why Analysis
Establish the Root Causes
Step 4: Countermeasure & Confirm
Finally ask the question “Did we Close the Gap?”
Countermeasure Ideas
Action Plan
Confirm the Result
Standardise & Share
In summary the 4 Steps follow P-D-C-A thinking (indicated by the different coloured numbers in the RPS quadrant).
