Lean Learning Journey

The purpose of our “Lean Learning Journey” platform is to address the fundamental issue of developing capability to support the introduction and ongoing development of lean thinking and practice for individuals and organisations.

We’ve developed the following courses on the platform:

“Capability development” is all about how we develop people. If we want effectiveness and longevity of our lean efforts then the ultimate goal of the capability development conundrum is “to build capability so people can do and improve themselves.” Addressing both how to solve today’s problems (simple gaps from standard) and the development of future capability – solving the next generation problems to prepare for the future.

Our Lean Learning Journey platform borrows skills matrix classifications from Toyota. The classification looks at ability from level 1 through to level 4 as follows:

1. Knowledge – Basic awareness gained

The knowledge step provides awareness. Suitable to teaching in a classroom or away from the workplace.

2. Understanding

Taught with actual problems and situations “on the job.” The outcome of this level is being able to carry out the activity with assistance, while supervised.

3. Capable

Taught with actual problems and situations “on the job.” The outcome of this level is being able to carry out the activity without assistance, while unsupervised.

4. Can Do Well, Teach & Coach Others

Taught with actual problems and situations “on the job.” Able to teach others in the activity.

You can access the learning products in the “Lean Learning Journey” platform from our shop or from the links at the top of the page. We are continuously adding both free and paid content.
