The Lean Summit 2010 brought together some of the best lean pioneers to share their hard won experiences of what works and what does not. We presented some of the best examples we have found that illustrate these lean practices.

The result of three years’ action research the book Making Hospitals Work, will be launched at the Summit. It follows a top management team as they use the scientific method to redesign the key end-to-end patient journeys through their hospital.

Over 300 delegates listened to 12 presentations on Lean process, Lean management, Lean leadership, Lean transformation and Lean strategy at the first one day UK Lean Transformation Summit for senior managers on 21st November 2008 at the QE II Conference Centre in London.

What comes after Rapid Improvement Events in lean healthcare? How can we create real end-to-end flows of patients through hospitals and beyond? Over the last year we have been leading two projects to redesign the flow of patients from Accident and Emergency through to discharge in Gwent and Portsmouth NHS Trusts.

The well-received fourth Lean Healthcare Forum responded to a need among lean healthcare practitioners for a day of peer-group discussion about progress and issues, in some cases the discussion was initiated by the A3 poster summaries of their projects which some delegates had brought along.
