8 Key Lean Learning Sessions

The theme for the 2014 Lean Summit is Practical Next Steps. The purposes of our annual summit are:

  • To raise consciousness of the latest developments in Lean Thinking
  • To provide insight into practical ways to get started, deepen or enhance your Lean journey
  • To enable participants to build their own network of Lean Thinkers

This year our focus is on the practical – actually doing Lean. We have therefore designed the programme to include eight two-hour Learning Sessions. Each Learning Session showcases a key element of Lean Transformation and will be led by exceptional leaders and coaches with deep experience in the subject area.

The Lean Learning Sessions range from Torgeir Halvorsen, Managing Director of Jaeger Toyota talking about the practicalities of implementing hoshin kanri across the business to Ken Andrew from RBS discussing the role of the Lean team and Steve Warren from Akzo Nobel describing the critical success factors required to work end to end across a Lean supply chain. Each Lean learning Session will be run twice so that participants will be able to attend four of the eight sessions. A full list of learning sessions is outlined below:

In addition to these 2 hour Lean Learning Sessions we again have a world-class plenary programme. This year we are delighted to welcome back Jim Womack (co-author with Dan Jones of the Machine that changed the World, Lean Thinking and Lean Solutions) who will discuss what the Lean start up movement and the more traditional Lean companies can learn from each other and he and our own Dan Jones will discuss where Lean goes next. Access to such thought leadership is a must for anyone implementing Lean. We are also delighted to host Dan Florizone from Government of Saskatewan – who will share how Lean is being spread across healthcare and government in Saskatchewan, Canada and Terry O’Donoghue from Halfway Toyota – who will share the work he has been leading to implement Lean in retail in South Africa. For anyone wanting to take Lean thinking beyond operations his story goes right into the heart of the sales organization. Peter Watkins also provides insight into how GKN are developing Lean leadership capability in the organization.

Whether you are a senior executive involved in running an organisation, leading or part of an internal transformation process or even wanting to get started with your team attending these sessions will give insight to enable you to plan and implement your own practical next steps.
