Biography

Ian Taylor

A qualified Production Engineer with considerable experience in Operational Management, Ian started his lean journey whilst managing Operations within the highly competitive Tier One, Automotive Industry supplying the likes of Toyota, Ford and General Motors. Assisting Tier Two businesses (the organisation’s own suppliers) in making their own successful Lean transformations became a major part of his role.

Ian has more recently worked as a Value Stream Manager in a Johnson & Johnson company where substantial increases in sales per employee, market share and profit margins were achieved through the application Lean Thinking and Six Sigma.

Ian now divides his time between working with the LEA and other organisations as an independent Lean coach and Six Sigma black belt.

He is currently spending increasing amounts of time working within the Healthcare Industry where significant improvements in Patient: Care, Throughput & Length of Stay have been realised. He is also working with the Executive Team from a large UK Health Trust, providing both coaching & facilitation, through their first steps toward successful Strategy Deployment.

The Lean Enterprise Academy (LEA) is a non-profit Academy based in the UK. It is a core member of the Lean Global Network established by the Lean Enterprise Institute (LEI) in the USA, who are organising seven Lean Summits in 2006.


LEA and LEI were founded by Professor Daniel T Jones and Dr. James P Womack respectively - the co-authors of The Machine that Changed the World and Lean Thinking.
