About Us
Who we are
The Lean Enterprise Academy is a non-profit Academy (a company with no shares and limited by guarantee) established to develop knowledge of Lean Thinking and its implementation and to disseminate this knowledge through publications and workshops.
Our new office is based in Goodrich, 5 miles west of Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire − one of the most beautiful parts of the UK; see www.wyenot.com.
We are located one hour's drive from Birmingham Airport and two hours drive from London Heathrow Airport. We can also be reached by train and taxi from Gloucester (for London trains) and Hereford (for trains from and the north of England).
The Lean UK Team
We are a network organisation led by a core management team and supported by our operations staff in Goodrich, near Ross on Wye, Herefordshire.
Daniel T Jones, Chairman
Daniel T Jones is the founding Chairman of the Lean Enterprise Academy in the UK, dedicated to pushing forward the frontiers of lean thinking and helping others with its implementation. His work has inspired the very successful implementation of lean by Tesco and many other companies.
Marc Baker, Senior Faculty
Marc has been working with companies as an independent Lean coach and Six Sigma Master black belt spanning many industries, including, pharmaceuticals, grocery services, medical devices, diagnostics, Healthcare, and telecoms.
Dave Brunt, Senior Faculty
David has helped Dan Jones set up the Lean Enterprise Academy. He currently divides his time between work for LEA and helping firms make a lean transformation.
Ian Glenday, Senior Faculty
Ian has been working with companies as an independent Lean coach and sensei. His approach to applying lean in many types of industries, including Healthcare, chemicals, paints, pharmaceuticals, grocery, food and drinks, is refreshingly different, instructive and always entertaining.
John Kiff, Senior Faculty
John has worked with Dan Jones since 1994, spending 13 years as Senior Researcher and Director on the International Car Distribution Programme (ICDP). He now divides his time between working for LEA and helping firms, mainly in car distribution, make a lean transformation.
Ken Robertson, Senior Faculty
Ken has extensive experience of the National Health Service, having worked in several large acute hospitals in England and Wales. His recent work has been focussed on end to end processes (patient journeys) and Value Stream Development in Medicine and Surgery
Ian Taylor, Senior Faculty
Ian divides his time between working with the Lean Enterprise Academy and other organisations as an independent Lean coach and Six Sigma black belt.
Lizzie Lewis, Operations Director
Lizzie joined the Lean Enterprise Academy in November 2003, having freelanced for a number of years as a conference organiser. She is responsible for the Lean Events, Workshops, and overall operational management of the LEA office.
Sarah Bainbridge, Office Manager
Sarah is responsible for the day-to-day management of the administration systems in the LEA Office
Kirsty Watkins, Executive Assistant
Kirsty is responsible for maintaining our bookstore and coordinates our customer contact systems

Art is the author of the LEI/LEA workbook entitled Creating Level Pull and is a frequent workshop instructor and content contributor.
Jim Luckman, Workshop Faculty
Jim Luckman is President of Luckman Consulting, Inc., which provides coaching for companies interested in utilizing lean principles and engaging the entire workforce in making profound change.
Dilesh Patel, Workshop Faculty
Dilesh Patel is a co-founder and president of the Visual Communications company, GumshoeKI whose eVSM software is based around the value stream mapping methodology in the best selling book "Learning to See".
Robert Martichenko, Workshop Faculty
Robert Martichenko is President of LeanCor LLC. Headquartered in Burlington Kentucky, LeanCor delivers Logistics and Supply Chain Management services to organizations embracing Lean production principles.
David Taylor, Workshop Faculty
David Taylor is a Senior Research Fellow in the Lean Enterprise Research Centre at Cardiff Business School, United Kingdom.
Stephen Parry, Workshop Faculty
Stephen Parry's career in service centre operations spans over 15 years, during which time he has been responsible for building and operating large scale international call centres in various sectors; IT Services, Retail Direct-Marketing and Financial Services
Dr Nick Rich, Workshop Faculty
Nick is a Director of Cardiff University's Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre. He was a founding member of the Lean Enterprise Research Centre (LERC) and worked with Professor Dan Jones for some 12 years in a variety of research roles.
