Lean Enterprise Academy > Healthcare > The Tangible Benefits
Some of the Tangible Benefits that organisations have realised whilst working with the Lean Enterprise Academy include:
From an average of 84% to a sustainable achievement of target (95% & 98% depending on location).
The introduction of ‘Best Practice’ Industry Style Operational Management processes, that facilitate a safer, more effective and compliant journey for Acute Medical Patients. Whilst cost benefits have been realised through this approach, ‘Quality of Care’ remains the primary focus. These processes seek to establish both Stability and Measures. Some of the measurable benefits realised include:
301 days lead times for patients down to 56 days.
Reduced from 32% occupancy of all beds to circa 6%
Reduced to a sustainable Zero
An increase in Safe Discharges of 58%
The waiting time has been reduced from an average of 6 days to 2 days.
Reduced from an average of 373 minutes to 33 minutes
The formal management of (and subsequent reduction in) Clinical Consumable Goods represents a one off cost reduction of £5K plus further savings of £1K per Ward per Month plus a 25% reduction in staff search times.
This Programme provided the training of all frontline Nursing staff on the theory of Standardised Work and how to apply it to the workplace, and in particular to healthcare.
This Knowledge Transfer Programme itself does not contribute financial savings, but it facilitates a rapid route to competence (50% lead time reduction) with regard to ’Quality of Care‘ and enables other work streams to deliver financial savings.
The Lean Enterprise Academy is a non-profit Academy established to develop knowledge of Lean Thinking and its implementation and to disseminate this knowledge through publications and workshops.
