Lean Enterprise Academy announce 2016 Workshops

We are very pleased to announce our calendar of events until June 2016.

We will be running a selection of our Lean Workshops developed around our Lean workbooks and exploring the elements of the Lean Transformation Framework.

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) – Learning to See

Thursday 17th & Friday 18th March

2 Day course

Our VSM workshop is designed around the bestselling workbook by Mike Rother and John Shook and published by Lean Enterprise Institute.

This workshop teaches participants:

  • How to identify a product family
  • How to see the entire value stream for a particular product family
  • How to map the value stream to identify and eliminate waste
  • Design a future state
  • How to develop a plan to achieve immediate breakthrough results.

The lessons learnt during this workshop are elements from the Process Improvement and Capability Development pillars of the Lean Transformation Framework

Introduction to Lean Leadership

Monday 23rd May

1Day Course

During 2011/2012 our CEO David Brunt worked on a research initiative with the Lean Global Network to look at the latest developments in Lean Thinking and Practice from a leadership point of view. 

This workshop teaches participants to:

  • Reflect on their organisation’s and their own individual efforts to implement Lean
  • Understand the nature of Lean as a methodology of solving business problems
  • Understand the key roles, mindsets, behaviours and assumptions of Lean
  • Identify gaps between the current state and desired state of both the organisation and the individual

Review those gaps and develop a plan to close the gaps identified

Introduction to the Lean Transformation Framework

Tuesday 24th May

In January 2014, John Shook shared the Lean Transformation Framework – the framework the Lean Enterprise Institute, the Lean Enterprise Academy and members of our Lean Global Network have been developing to guide transformations with our partner companies, large and small, across a wide range of industries.

Through instruction, small group discussions and exercises, the workshop participants will learn:

  • About the key elements of a successful Lean transformation
  • Discuss and reflect on how to go beyond where they are now – to close the next set of gaps in the organization

Designed for Leaders, management teams and Lean teams wanting to examine their Lean implementations

A3 Thinking – Managing to Learn

Wednesday 22nd June

Our A3 Thinking workshop is designed around the bestselling workbook by John Shook and published by Lean Enterprise Institute.

This workshop teaches participants:

  • Greater understanding of PDCA and the A3 problem solving process
  • Know when to use A3 Problem Solving or basic 3c problem solving
  • In-depth practice in:
    • Reading & Reviewing A3’s 
    • Coaching others in developing their problem solving capability

The lessons learnt during this workshop fit within each of the five elements of the Lean Transformation Framework

Policy Deployment – Getting the Right Things Done

Policy deployment, or hoshin kanri, is more than just a strategic planning system. Executed well it engages, motivates and involves everyone within the organisation in achieving sustainable improvements in the way the business performs.

Through instruction, small group discussions and exercises, the workshop participants will:

  • Begin to think through how to apply and or develop the process in their organisation.
